Can see GROOTUSB.INF and SETUUP.EXE on CD at D:\DRIVERS.
Plugged in USB lead, new hard ware detected (good so far).
Wizard starts, selected : install from a list or specific location (ie. D:\DRIVERS) then reports: can not find software for USB device.

So I started D:\drivers\ setup.exe but on the next screen is driver type "WAN" whereas the screen shoot in the manual shows driver type as "ATM" - at this point I quit and seek advice.

Similar question to the first one in this thread.

The installation instructions for the SAR100 instruct you to choose WAN (PPPoA) drivers, which is confirmed by the follwoing screen shot. However, the screen shot (headed 'Start Copying Files') that appears after the instruction to click on next shows the current settings as:

Service Provider GlobeSpan ATM (PPPoA)

My ISP also states that my PPP type should be PPPoA (PPP over ATM) not PPPoE.

Do I stick with WAN (PPPoA) or choose ATM (PPPoA)?

Regards Richard

FEEDBACK XP AND SOLWISE SAR100

The set up instruction booklet is for Windows 2000. It is not usable for Windows XP. (The booklet should have a reference number of some type).

The CD title reads EA100 ADSL USB Modem V1.11.0007Q. This includes a 45 page Installation Guide in a PDF file. As a Microsoft Certified Professional I was astonished by the difficulty I had following the guide and hope this may assist other users and in its revision. Set up was aided by several calls to the help line on 0845 458 4558.

SCOPE: This feedback is limited to the set up of a freestanding XP PC using the ATM options and a BT ADSL. The ISP is Nildram.

PRELIMINARIES
To read and print the PDF file you must either have Adobe Acrobat loaded on the target PC or have access to another PC with Acrobat loaded, a printer and 45 sheets of paper. (It would have been helpful to have the Acrobat on the CD). These notes are intended to clarify and expand the text in the Installation Guide.

Ensure that file type extensions are shown. As necessary click Start / Control Panel / View tab / ensure that the option Hide File type is NOT ticked.

Ensure that all the micro filter splitters are in place. Double check that all telephones or answer-phones are connected to the BT ADSL line via a micro filter splitter.

Do not connect any cables to the USB modem until instructed to do so.

Close any open windows and disable any virus checker.

OVERVIEW OF WIZARDS
You will use the
- Found New Hardware Wizard
- Globspan DSL modem set up Wizard on CD, used twice
- Create a New Connection Wizard (Should be, but is not part of the Installation text. It is described later).

Despite my earlier enquiry I had no problems actually setting up the modem and connecting to the World Wide Not-much-of-a-wait-now. Nildram support we very helpful in setting up (unsupported) Netscape. The paper instructions gave enough of an idea of what was going on for me to complete the setup of the modem.

IMHO Francis is being a little mean about the lack of Acrobat on the instal disc - anyone brave enough to install their own Broadband modem is very likely to already have it installed on their PC.

Seasons Goodwill to all.

I'm having similar problems to Francis. I've switched off all my anti-virus software, but driver only loads to 30% and then just hangs. I've gone through my system and uninstalled things I thought might conflict (there is a parts ordering system that has caused problems in the past, but I've got rid of that for the moment), but I still can't get anywhere. My ISP even e-mailed to me in zip form all the drivers in case the CDROM was corrupted, but still no luck. Anyone got any suggestions?

Thanks
