I have a block of 8 static IP addresses:

.136/8
or .136/255.255.255.248

.137 is the LAN address I have configured for my router (as instructed by my ISP).

My question is, what should be configured for the WAN IP address?

I currently have the WAN IP set to the same as the LAN IP address, although origionally it was left configured as Service Provider. Both configurations apparently worked.

I will eventually be using IP Filtering. Will the be impacted by having the same WAN/LAN IP Address?

Kind Regards

Easy way is switch on NAT with 'IP supplied by ISP'. Then connect to your ISP and check the IPCP remote options in Statistics/PPP/Status to see whay address the IPS gave your .router. Then use that address.

Surly I can't use use a server assigned IP as my WAN ip (customized) because if it's server assigned it could change.

I have a static IP block so surly I would want to use on of those.

The address assigned to you by the ISP will be one from your block.
