hi

hope i have posted in correct forum

i have the broadband connection upstairs in the front room. i need the wireless connection to travel through 2 walls, then 20 metres to another building at the end of the garden.

current wireless router gets to about 2 metres short of the building before wireless signal drops out.

can somebody recommend any options i have. preferably the cheapest option.

thx in advance

Homeplug!

Plug an ethernet HP device into the LAN port of the router.

e.g.

Then use a wireless HP device in the other building to create a new wireless network.

thx for you reply steve.

each building runs on it own fuse box (2 different consumer units), so on different circuits. will homeplugs still work.

thx in advance

We have mixed success with multiple consumer units. Each mains ring hop (e.g. consumer unit to consumer unit) knocks c. 20dB off the signal. If the signal is already degraded due to mains noise then this extra signal reduction might be enough to tip it over the edge. It works fines at my house with two consumer units and, I'd say, for 2/3rds of the people with two consumer units it's fine.

No guarantees I'm afraid but you can try and send back if it doesn't work.
