I am about to recieve an ADSL Master Faceplate Splitter, and I have heard that unfiltered (modem) connections must be made to the A and B pins on the back. However, I cannot find any guides on doing this, and I do not know which wires should go into these specifically.

On the rear of the new faceplate are 5 terminals: A,B,2,3,5.
A and B are for you to run UNFILTERED extensions from (if you want to locate your modem on another extension in the house). 2,3,5 are FILTERED terminals for if you want to connect filtered extensions (so no modem).
These terminals are the same as the sockets on the front of the faceplate (so A B goes to the DSL socket and 2,3,5 to the telephone socket).

Yes, but how would I know which extension wires specifically go to A and B? Or do I just connect all of them there?

A + B are the terminals carrying speech and ADSL pre the filter.
2 + 5 are the line pair post filter carrying speech only with 3 as the ringer.

ok, so I just need to connect everything to A and B then?
HOLD ON...I have 2,3,4,5 A and B...
6 terminals?

Right, I installed the faceplate fine and there is still a discrepancy between the test socket speed and master socket. What should I do?

OK question in order.
You don't need terminal 4.
I usually connect them from habit to match pairs up as I am old fashioned, lol.
Used to be used in times of old for signalling/Earth Break. Don't let it bother you.
What else have you on the circuit?
How many extensions.
Do the results stay acceptable with any other sockets removed.
Sound like something is loading the line the wrong way to me.
I come across it all the time.

Right, I have two pairs of twisted cables.
One is blue and the other white with blue.
The other is orange, and white with orange.
I tried disconnecting them all, but my broadband provider has capped my speed again so I can't see any change in speed at the moment.

Even if capped you will be able to see your actual connection speed.
To do a download speed go to www.fuller.zen.co.uk/test (http://www.fuller.zen.co.uk/test) and download each of the 100mb files there.
Which service provider are you with?
I get involved in a lot of ADSL testing within customer premises as I own a Trend ADSL tester. A bit of an overkill but the stats are interesting reading
87% of tests are customer premise issues such as faulty internal wiring.
8% are ISP
5% wrong service provison
Yes you can do the tests with a router set up but the Trend allows you to quickly go round each socket and make the test without having to set up a laptop and router each time you move.

Yes, but you see Sky actually limit the speed your router syncs at, so the download will be nothing more than that, and most probably less. Now what were you saying about faulty wiring?
