senaoECB3220

My Senao was crap since I bought it. I didn't work properly, internet drops, Universal Repeater useless. I was very disappointed. :(
So, I decided to try a 3rd party f/w.
Since this Senao, the Pheenet WAP654G and the Minitar MWGAR are very smilar (the web), I decided to flash it with the Minitar f/w.
It worked fine, but when I try to configurate it, the Senao didn't find any ifi signal (site survey), and even I try to repeat some of the by using the SSID, but nothing. So I decided to re-install again the original f/w.
When I did this, I used the same minitar web (intalled in the Senao) to upload the original f/w but after that, the Senao didn't respond any more. It was a brick.
Well, this is what I did. I believe it can be used to force the installation of any f/w in any AP/router and recover the last ones.
First, we are goint to get ready the AP:
1- Disconnect the router from UTP cables (not the power cable).
2- Push reset button for 30 secs.
3- Without releasing reset button, disconnect power cord.
4- Hold the reset button for another 30 secs.
5- Replug the power cord.
6- Still hold the reset button for another 30 secs.
7- Release the reset button and give the router about 10 secs to resettle.
8- Disconnect power cord for another 10 secs and then reconnect.
Well, now the router is ready. (still a brick but ready for what we are going to do).
9- We connect the router to the computer, and we make sure that it is connected.
As you know, your local area connection must be:
IP:192.68.1.10
Subnet:255.255.255.0
leave the rest blank.
10- We need the tools we need the files. These are the files with the v1.37 for Senao ECB-3220 indoors. Once you recover the AP, you can update it to v.1.43.03.
Well, let's go:
http://rapidshare.com/files/168416180/Senao_ECB_3220_v.1.37.zip.html
Download and unzip in your computer.
Make sure you disconnect any wireless connection and any antiviral program or firewall.
11- Start the Update Tool but do not press START button yet.
12- Get the AP and desconnect the power. Press the reset button (with a pencil?) and hold it pressed.
13- Connect the power and keep pressing the button for 5 seconds. After that, release the button and 2 seconds later press the START in the Update Tool window.
Just be patient. When you see Updated Suscessful!! You did it. :D
If not, try the process again, step by step.
For those who has different APs or Routers, you can do the same but you have to rename your files. Use the Update Tool the same way. You only need the Update Tool. Put the Update Tool in the same directory you have your firmware.
a) If the firmware you are going to use has three files, rename them linux-1.4.6 (for the kernel), webpages-vpn, y config-vpn-ogf.
b) If the firmware is based on two files, rename them linux-1.4.6 y webpages-vpn
c) If your firmware is only one file, rename it linux-1.4.6 and mark the box ONLY KERNEL when flashing it with the Update Tool.
Whatever the option you have, put your files in the same directory with the Update Tool ONLY, and rename them. Then, follow the previous instruction to flash your AP/router.
If you have a PheenetWAP-654G or GP, it is very known that it is very unstable. The Minitar f/w has been proven to work properly with the Pheenet. And the pheenet is stable with it :D.
