I am planning a wireless connection between two buildings (main house and outbuilding), distance less than 100 metres, good line of sight. It looks as if a pair of Engenius access point/client bridge units would do the job well, though I might get away with one unit and rely on the built-in wireless antenna of the laptop in the outbuilding to pick up from the access point in the main house. Is this correct? Also, what is the difference between the Engenius 1650 and 2610 units from this point of view? Thanks.

Well I think you may be pushing it a little looking at the laptop being able to get a signal back to the AP.
The 1650 is more of an indoor or well sheltered unit it is not vey weather proof. The 2610 on the other hand is weather proof and can be used out doors without any problems.
I would say if you have line of sight and it is going to be a permenant link go for the 2610's.
If it is just a temp link and you have two windows facing each other that are not Pilkington K glass. I would look at the 1650.

You won't do a laptop in a building from one 2610 at 100 metres.
We have used them in many situations but that is a step too far in our experience.
The ideal solution is a pair of 2610s in bridge mode and off you go.
