    Engenius 9550 x 3

    Hi

I purchased three Engenius 9550 devices all connected to my switch via PoE. The wireless for each works really well with a strong signal all connecting back to the switch then out to the internet.

Each has it's own fixed IP address.

My question is how do I give my users a seemless wireless experience with all three devices no matter where they are in the building? I have seen WDS but that weems to suggest that only one of the devices should be connected to the switch.

    Any suggestions are most welcome.

    Regards

    Paul

Seamless roaming is called IEE 802.11r (r for rapid) and NOTHING supports this. For 802.11r to work the APs and your clients (PCs etc..) would have to support this and, I'm afraid, nothing does. WDS is really just all repeaters with one unit connected to the LAN. It's not roaming. The big problem is the client which will only decide to switch AP when the signal to the first AP has broken. i.e. not seamless.

    Sorry.
