    WAS 105 Hotspot Gateway

Was 105 with no printer attached.
I want to give free access for a limited time but would still like customers to go through a sign on screen.
I have set this up with just 1 active VAP as on demand with Guest users enabled.
Billing plan 0 set to £0 for a max time of 45 mins - all works ok but is there a way of setting this up without the Pre generated or On demand sign up boxes appearing on the log in screen.
Or is there a better way of setting up free access with some form of generic password that could be changed on a daily basis for all users.

Well I would have created a Guest account allowing multiple login. Will that not do what you want?

    Was-105

Well nearly - I have set up multiple log ins and activated Guest service - 32 accounts with a max time of 45 mins per guest.
What i would like to do is allow multiple connections using 1 passcode on a daily basis - eg tomatosoup which could be written up on a chalkboard. In order to get the log in screen you appear to have to select one of the authentication choices such as pre generated / on demand etc which I don't really want as there is no printer.

    Hope my explanation is clear

I think I am getting there by using LOCAL RADIUS accounts and generating username and password ...

Agh not quite ... don't seem to be able to apply a time limit with this choice. Back to the drawing board.

    Notification on WAS-105

Ok seem to have everything pretty much sorted - However just in case this helps anyone else I was struggling with the System Log and Session log NOTIFICATION tool. I could not gat a succssesful test result using BT Internet mail accounts. Switched to a Google mail account for sending and got a "Success" Test result straight away.

    Feedback req please

I have purchased my first WAS 105 and been feeling my way around the config over the weekend. I have found several small glitches such as - The log out on line users facility doesn't appear to logout the user. - even though succesfully setting up the Notification tool the was has not sent out the traffic log. I have checked the Firmware level and it is currently running Cen-HS-N2H1 V0.0.15 dated 2011/05/27 10:03:14 and there is a newer version on the Solwise website. Have downloaded this wanting to read the release notes to check if these are known bugs but there does not appear to be any Release notes in the Zip file. On attempting a firmware update I get an error message - not enough memory to complete update.
    Any help appreciated Solwise team

You need to install version 1.0.3 first, note there are 2 files in this version, install the "special" file first, then the webimg file. You can then load the latest (1.0.4)

    Cheers

Thanks - Downloaded FW 1.0.3 and upgraded Firmware as instructed and all Ok

Downloaded 1.0.4 and unzipped file - Attempted upgrade and get this response - Firmware Upload ERROR

The 1.0.3 files unzip as .DAT files but the 1.0.4 unzips as a .RAR file

    Any thoughts?

You haven't tried to load the rar file have you? A rar file is a compressed file format like zip. You have to un-rar the file and then load the dat file.

If you haven't got winrar then...

    Product Feedback

So the WAS has been on site nearly a week now and I am quite staisfied in the product quality and the way it is performing.

I would like to give feedback on the device and Solwise. I am used to what I call flakey installation manuals but I have to say this is pretty flakey. in fact if it were not for the excellent set up videos by Steve ( Solwise ) I would have struggled with the concept of the Domains and Virtual access points. The transition from a template to a customised log in page has not been attempted yet and the manual does not inspire me with thoughts of an easy process. Let you know how it goes when I attempt it. There were several other areas where I had to suss it out myself as the manual said nowt. But if it's too easy you don't learn I suppose.

There is 1 thing that I would like fed back to Pheenet if at all possible in the hope a fix may be added to a new Firm ware level.

The time the Traffic log is sent out is directly linked to the last time you do a system Reboot. Example I have a Time policy set up and close of day is 17.00 - So I would like my daily traffic log to arrive after this time each day. However if you make any minor changes say to the log in page and do a system reboot for the change to take effect that is the time the Notification Timer starts counting to next delivery time. So I made a minor change at midday and the following days logs were sent out at midday. So in fact 1 days traffic was spread over 2 days logs. Surely they could have a " Traffic log to be sent out at X Time " Box on the notification page. Also there should be a way to save the Traffic logs prior to doing a reboot as the reboot wipes your data.

Apart from this pretty happy with this product

I would think that internal storage for the log is a bit tight. Maybe that has something to do with the setting when to send the log. However updates for the 105 come through quite fast and Pheenet are very good at taking on board customer feedback so maybe, next update, this will be addressed - no guarantees ;-)
