Pipex said Extreme Solo will be activated by BT on 19th March (order placed about 9th or so). I ordered my Router from Solwise, stock arrived on 13th, arrived with me on the 14th.
That night I plugged it in and found the line was alive, 5 days before it was supposed to be.
I assume the time Pipex quote is to allow BT time to do it, so it may well be on early. Just plug the router in, use the excellent set-up guide from the people here, and see if it connects.
Pipex did get me connected days before my activation time.
However, they disconnected me yesterday !!
(My fault, I've just switched bank accounts and they tried to hit my previous account, and I hadn't changed the account/card details - so the payment was resfused,so they chopped access).
Called them today and cleared it up, and they assure me it will all be on. They were friendly enough on the phone ( I called customer service, not support).
They didnt actually SAY I had been disconnected, but I had adsl running but couldnt log in by the looks of it. We'll see tonight if they did indeed cut it off or something else is up !

They said my ADSL Connection would be activated on Tue 19th March.
Well, I plugged my new router in last night and Bingo ! Live connection.
(OK, so I know BT set up the line, but pipex didnt drag their feet on it either)
Yup, same for me. I had the 19th too but have been blazing away at 50K/sec+ since Monday morning. I now read at Pipex that I've been connected since the 15th only BT hadn't told them. Lol - I could have!
My system came up last night about 15 mins after posting the message.
Quite a number were affected, all seemingly with @xtreme as the tail end of their user login.
From what I can gather, it may have been a BT problem. All credit to them for sorting it out at 10:30 at night.
Pipex have been getting a bit of a roasting on www.adslguide.org.uk, but the main thrust is their support is bad (emails not replied to, phones constantly engaged) but one of their senior people posts regularly on updates and the changes the business is making to alleviate these problems.
In the end, for 29 quid a month, its not the end of the world if its out for a day or two. If you ADMIT to having a problem to your customers, and are honest about it, it removes a lot of the sting in the complaints. Pipex, I'm glad to say, follow this.
Must say that I have had no problems with pipex so far,
The speeds I get during tests are around 458/235, which isn't bas as I have 4 cables connected together to reach the computer room.
eMail has been reliable but on occasions it is slow, I regulary send emails from home 2 work. The out going from work arrive v quickly, though from pipex to work they can take upto 3 hours to be delivered.
must say that pipex seems to me a fine service, a few of my friends wants to sigh up to, I wonder when will they stop the free installations... I thought that the number was about 40000.
waking up on sunday morning to find that my ADSL is not working isnt great, I have run the BT test login and thats establishes therefore pipex must have broken down...sigh.
anyone else is having this problem? there isnt a 24 support phoneline which I found surprising, so there isnt much I can do.
Pipex was good, then the system went down. Pipex still continued to bill for braodband. When i telephoned them to tell them the system was down, i had to pay for the telephone call. Wrote letters, got no reply. No good had to call it a day.
