Question Huawei E169 modem and NET-3G-REN11YG Yagi Antenna

    Hi,

Can anybody help me with the set up of this antenna.

I've put up the antenna on the house, pointed at the local 3G mast, and attached the cable to my Huawei E169 modem via the PIG-HUAWEI-SMAS-30 pigtail.

I use a Billion 7402 GXL 3G router, and it shows 4/10 bars for signal strength, with the pigtail plugged in or not.

I'm confident I've pointed the antenna correctly, but I'm not sure what might be wrong.

Current traffic is abysmally slow, and upload near zero.

I'm unfortunatly trying to help my daughter set this up remotly, as I'm 240miles away in Essex, whilst she's in Hull, actually 5 miles from Solwise themselves!

Is it possible the Huawei socket is not working, or that the plug is not fully engaged? How much force is necessary to engage the plug?

Any advise or assistance would be most welcome.

    Best regards,
    Donchik

    Hi
I bought 2 of these antennas, and found that the dongle on it's own was better. I made a wok antenna. The focal point of the wok is about right for where the internal antenna is on the USB modem. I did a RF check to the local transmitter and it has a gain of 10dB or so.
