Just posting a big thank you for the guide you did. It all made sense following that and went through without any problem.

    My router used to show

    EA-705 ADSL Router: BD6000 BSP v1.2 (ISOS 7.1) / He100/2xx CSP v2.3 (ISOS 8.2) [3.D1.0.83]

    Now it shows

    EA-705 ADSL Router: BD6000 BSP v1.2 (ISOS 7.1) / He100/2xx CSP v2.3 (ISOS 8.2) [3.D2.0.85]

Ill try using it again now to see if the disconnect problem has gone away now that its got the new firmware on.

    Thanks again.

    Thank you so much!

Due to your help, I found my mistake (and a stupid one at that), and I run now the newest firmware!

If there is some medal for volunteers to get in this coutry, it should be given to you, machasm!

You, sir, are my hero! I shall buy you a beer if we ever bump into each other.

I tried to forward a couple of UDP ports last night for iVisit. My router broke. It wouldn't boot to anything except the DEBUG prompt.

I tried to reapply the 8.2 firmware using the updated DSL config tool - no joy. I was able to get the older 7.1 firmware back on, though, which meant I could get some semblance of 'Net access.

I still couldn't upgrade to 8.2. The upgrade process failed at the same point each time ("Starting mkflash image......") at which point the router would display an ATMos TRAP error and drop into DEBUG mode.

I followed your instructions (those are some nifty tools) and I am now back on the latest 8.2 firmware.

Hats off to you. Have a beer on me.
    My £0.02,
    Alex

I second that! I spent hours last night trying to resurrect a router which had somehow completely lost its firmware (sometime during upgrading, downgrading, whatever!). These instructions allowed me to fix the problem and have a completely functioning router in a very short time.

I can now use L2TP VPN to connect to work, so I can work from home on Fridays now, so make that several beers if I bump into you!

    Thanks!

Since a new firmware has just been released I figured I'd bump this thread up again.

    Linux version

    Hi all,
Managed to trash my router while trying to switch it over to take a dhcp address using the CLI... It went so badly dodgy I had to try the 'machasm method' to get it working again. Happily dhcpd and tftpd running under linux work just as well as the windows utils described in the docs
One thing I had to do was blow away the flash partition holding my config as I'd managed to config it so badly it wouldn't restart even with the flash reload.
So, if you keep getting dropped back to DEBUG prompt you need to follow Steve's advice in another thread i.e.:

    Successful upgrade, but no VPN

    Thanks!
I seem to have been extremely lucky, in that my upgrade to 8.2 passed without any trauma. However, the reason for upgrading was to do as you have done, and access my work server from home over vpn. I have done this successfully in hotels, but there appears to be nothing happening if I connect my firms laptop to the SAR715. Did you do anything else to get vpn to work?

    Any ideas gratefully received

    Regards

    Stephen

Try it with firewall on 715 disabled . Also check http://www.practicallynetworked.com/...t/VPN_help.htm - Lot of information in there.

    Machasm....YOU RoXx0r!!!

Your method truly works and I recommend this to all who have such problems.

If i may though, I would recommend the software from this site:
    http://www.weirdsolutions.com/download/index.html

Download the DHCP Turbo and TFTP Turbo packages and you cant go wrong.
